Bike *** - Felixstowe Ferry

With some wind forecast for a couple of hours this afternoon we had all day so Mag and I got up earlyish and got the bikes out and took a flask to Felixstowe Ferry to look for coal and watch the boats leave the River Deben :) We found a little coal and saw one lovely old sailing boat chug out! After lunch in the garden I spent the afternoon reading with one eye on the computer and at about four the wind started to fill in so I took the trailer to The Dip.

Windsurf **** The Dip Felixstowe

It wasn’t that windy when I arrived so rigged big and set off beating 4 miles to Landguard beach which was really good, in the straps and in control but when I turned the wind had increased and the sea was very rough :( I had some interesting runs back trying to go broad but it was hard keeping the board in the water !!!! I went in a couple of times out to sea and I was pleased to get back on the board as waterstarting a 9.4 in a big sea is challenging. In the end I was pleased to get back to The Dip by which time the south wind had gone sw, a fraction off here, there were 3 kites and a windsurfer out for a short while from Golf beach. It was now high water and there can’t be many places worse to windsurf than Felixstowe as the sea is a huge lumpy mess :( Would have been better with the 8.5!
